The New York Giants are playing a dangerous game with star RB Saquon Barkley right now.
The Penn State product has yet to sign his tender, and he’s recently confirmed that he won’t partake in the team’s mandatory minicamp unless he gets a new deal.
Barkley already skipped OTAs, but he could start losing even more money in fines if he doesn’t report for team activities, not to mention the fact that he hinted at the possibility of sitting out the entire season.
Needless to say, that prompted some mixed reactions on social media, from fans stating that he’s not that good anymore and others urging the Giants to get a deal done now.
Respectful negotiations. Pay the man.

The Giants placed him under the franchise tag, and Barkley has made it clear from day one that he’s not looking forward to playing unless he gets a new deal.
He was the team’s best offensive playmaker since he entered the league, and by a very big margin.
But he’s struggled to stay on the field due to multiple injuries, and teams have been hesitant to give up big-money deals to running backs lately, especially if they’ve shown to be injury-prone.
Barkley was again the best offensive player in Brian Daboll’s first year in charge of the organization, and he played a big role in Daniel Jones’ breakout season.
Maybe, and hopefully for the fans, both parties can meet in the middle, as he’s not healthy enough to demand a top-tier contract, but he’s still their best player.NEXT: Saquon Barkley Doesn't Rule Out Sitting Out For 2023 Season
