Los Angeles Angels infielder Anthony Rendon has recently made some headlines.
He did it, again, for the wrong reasons.
In an appearance on the “Jack Vita Show,” Rendon complained that the MLB season is too long and that they need to shorten it.
“We gotta shorten the season, man. It’s too many dang games — 162 games and 185 days or whatever it is. Man, no. We gotta shorten this bad boy up,” he said.
You can imagine that fans weren’t too thrilled to hear him saying that: especially him.
Since signing a seven-year, $245 million deal with the Angels in late 2019, he hasn’t eclipsed the 60-game barrier once.
His work ethic has been questioned time and time again, and this certainly doesn’t do him any favors.
Here are some reactions of fans to what Rendon said.
A heads up: they aren’t happy.
Congrats on being the laziest baseball player of all time.

I think Anthony Rendon wants to be the most hated player. Embrace it.

Yeah Rendon is not the guy I want to hear this take from, dude doesn’t even like baseball.

Dude played 148 games in the last 3 years combined. Maybe he should stop doing interviews and get a strength and conditioning coach.

Nobody hates baseball as much as Anthony Rendon. Stop giving him a platform to speak on.

Perhaps Rendon “hating baseball” is a bit harsh considering he has been playing since he was little, but one can’t help but feel that he is not having a good time in LA and that his work ethic is not ideal.
He has also confronted fans and projected an image of laziness in 2023.
Evidently, the season is not getting shorter anytime soon, so he will have to keep respecting the schedule and the rules.
In any case, it was definitely something that fans didn’t like to hear, particularly and specifically coming from him.
He will have to deal with angry fans for at least a while, or learn to choose his words more carefully.
