The Cleveland Cavaliers were on the verge of becoming a special team with Collin Sexton and Darius Garland, and then they went all-in to get Donovan Mitchell from the Utah Jazz.
Mitchell and Garland were one of the most explosive backcourts in the league last season, and they looked like the kind of duo that could outscore most rival teams on any given night.
As you may know by now, that didn’t exactly translate into success in the playoffs, but they were still a fun team to watch with tons of potential.
Even though he’s been in the league for quite a while now, Mitchell has just turned 27 today, which is why plenty of fans took to Twitter to wish him well on his special day.
Damn I remember bro was like 20. We getting old fellas😭💯

Mitchell has been one of the best scorers in the game since he joined the NBA.
The Cavs added Max Strus to their lineup to try and solve their issues at the small forward spot from last season, and that could end up being the defining factor in their pursuit of a deep postseason run.
If they fail to go deep into the playoffs again, it’s hard to envision them being able to retain Mitchell past this current contract.
He wants to win and play at the highest level, and there will be no shortage of teams interested in his services if he makes it clear that he’s not going to re-sign in Cleveland.
For now, the Cavs can still brag about having two of the best guards in the East.
