Monday night was supposed to be a captivating game between two NFL teams with playoff aspirations.
However, tragedy struck on the field when Damar Hamlin collapsed after making a tackle.
With both teams showing grave concern over the 24-year-old defender, it was clear they couldn’t continue to play.
Skip Bayless tweeted about the situation and fans were not happy.
While Hamlin’s life means everything to the NFL players and announcers, Bayless questioned how the NFL could postpone the game.
No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game – but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant.

This led to Bayless being rightfully roasted on Twitter.
It led one user to proclaim how this is the worst take ever from Bayless.
Come on Skip, this is life vs. a game. I’m sorry but this is your worst take ever.

To Freddie Mitchell, he sees these comments by Skip as “the most disgusting disrespectful statement” they’ve ever heard.
You’re 100 percent trying to get fired Skip. The most disgusting disrespectful statement I’ve ever heard.

Some wonder why this tweet hasn’t been deleted yet.
How is this tweet not deleted yet?

With Hamlin’s life meaning more than anything else, some feel Skip should know better than to tweet this careless tweet.
all u care about is football when damar hamlin’s life is at risk. coming from u i expected more. this tweet is not. u of all people should know better bro.
— Darrelle Revis (@Revis24) January 3, 2023
Some called him out and reminded everyone that NFL players are more than just numbers.
This is the most inconsiderate thing you could have said. We are human beings not just numbers. You’ve obviously never stepped foot in a locker room or been apart of a family like this. We are a band of brothers! Get over yourself man… Praying hard for Damar and his family!
— Logan Cooke (@LoganCooke2) January 3, 2023
Another user called his take “garbage,” and called him out for making a career off this.
This is garbage Skip, really. You’ve made a career off of this, but you need to show compassion at least once.

While Bayless is a well-known commentator, this could be a career-defining tweet by him.
He later clarified his tweet, saying “nothing is more important than that young man’s health.”
Nothing is more important than that young man's health. That was the point of my last tweet. I'm sorry if that was misunderstood but his health is all that matters. Again, everything else is irrelevant. I prayed for him & will continue to.
— Skip Bayless (@RealSkipBayless) January 3, 2023
While he clarified his tweet, people were not happy with him.
With him keeping up the first tweet, it makes it hard for people to believe in his compassion.
