The Atlanta Falcons will host a slumping Miami Dolphins team that can’t seem to catch a break.
Mike McDaniel’s team continues to implode on and off the field, and Raheem Morris needs to make the most of this.
Unfortunately, the Falcons won’t have Michael Penix Jr. on the field because of an injury, but even though Kirk Cousins didn’t look good at all last season, he’s still a proven veteran.
Nevertheless, Marcas Grant of NFL.com expects Bijan Robinson to be the one to lead the way on Sunday.
In his latest column, he predicted that the former Texas Longhorns star would have a game for the ages.
“Bijan Robinson goes for 200 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns,” Grant wrote. “What happens when ‘the best player in football’ meets one of the worst defenses in football? Magic! Whether or not you back Raheem Morris’ lofty claim about his RB1, there’s no denying Bijan’s impact. Now he gets to face a Dolphins defense that is allowing more than 5 yards per carry. Compound that with surrendering the seventh-most receiving yards to running backs, and Robinson is in the ultimate smash spot this week.”
Truth be told, it’s hard to argue with that prediction.
For starters, the Falcons will most likely rely heavily on the running game in Penix’s absence, even though Cousins can get the job done.
Also, Robinson is going to play against the Dolphins’ ever-struggling run defense that just allowed rookie running back Quinshon Judkins to run for three touchdowns last week.
If that wasn’t enough, Robinson is coming off a disappointing outing, with the San Francisco 49ers bottling him up last week, so he will certainly want to get back on track.
The Dolphins are officially entering desperation territory, and that spells trouble for them on the road.
The Falcons are favored by a touchdown and should be able to keep the chains moving with ease, especially if they get their star running back involved early and often.
