The Atlanta Falcons are going all-in to compete at the highest level right now.
They took their time to make a decision about their new head coach, eventually going with Raheem Morris to replace Arthur Smith.
Needless to say, that gives them hopes of improving on the defensive side of the field, but that’s not enough to win a divisional title.
With that in mind, they’re looking to get more weapons around Kirk Cousins, their new franchise quarterback.
According to a report by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network (via Ari Meirov), the Falcons are signing veteran WR Darnell Mooney to a three-year deal worth $39 million.

Mooney has been a promising player for quite a while, yet he hasn’t been able to take that leap forward.
It goes without saying that the Bears’ QB situation has been far from ideal during his time with the team, so there’s still hope he can break out with Cousins at the helm.
The Falcons already had a trio of elite offensive players in Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts, who’s expected to get more involved in the offense after being mostly a blocker and a decoy under coach Smith.
There’s a new big player in the NFC South Division.
The Falcons now know they can compete and go toe-to-toe with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This move inches them closer back to the playoffs after three seasons of flirting with contention and falling short of it when it mattered the most.
