After spending his entire NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, America’s Team decided to part ways with veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott after the 2022 season, making him a free agent and able to sign with any team that shows interest.
Unfortunately for Elliott, the interest wasn’t there on the open market, with the veteran back waiting and waiting to get a call, but the phone wasn’t ringing.
There has been some speculation that the Cowboys could try to bring him back this summer to maintain the dynamic duo with Pro Bowler Tony Pollard, but there’s been no movement on that front, and now training camps are underway across the league.
However, there might be some light at the end of the tunnel for Elliott, with the New England Patriots set to bring him in for a visit and meeting with fellow veteran back Leonard Fournette, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Although the consensus is that Elliott is no longer the dominant back of old as he has lost a step or two, he’s still a very productive player out of the backfield, and he proved that last season by scoring 12 touchdowns.
There’s no doubt that the yards aren’t the same as last year was the first time Elliott failed to reach 1,000 yards from scrimmage, but having a back with his experience and ability to get in the endzone is valuable, with the Patriots possibly willing to take a chance on the former Cowboys star.
Along with Elliott, Dalvin Cook also remains unsigned and is set to visit with the AFC East division rival New York Jets this weekend.
