The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles recently made NFL history in two ways.
They played the first opening week Friday night game, and they played the first-ever NFL game in Brazil.
Both teams are slated to be among the best in the NFC this year, so this matchup was met with significant hype and excitement.
Unfortunately for fans, the game didn’t exactly play out as anticipated.
The field surface they played on was incredibly slick, as players on both teams slipped and slid all over the field, making for a difficult atmosphere.
Many analysts commented on the surface, including Warren Sharp, who called it “embarrassing” and “egregious” in an X post.
this field is embarrassing
absolutely egregious

Sharp wasn’t the only one, as fans and analysts alike turned to X to comment on the field conditions.
NFL is gonna have to address some tough questions about this field. Someone has to answer for this.
Absolutely embarrassing.

I see the NFL still hasn't figured out how to get a field ready for a game overseas. Ridiculous

Eagles victimized again by the slip and slide field.

Man this field sucks!!! ??♂️ GB vs PHI

From Stephen Holder talking about the NFL needing to be accountable for this, to Skip Bayless indicating that the Eagles were hit especially hard by the conditions, this game was heavily scrutinized.
Several players got injured during the game, including Packers quarterback Jordan Love.
Love’s injury wasn’t necessarily directly caused by the poor field conditions, but it certainly played a part.
It will be interesting to see how long he’s out due to this injury.
If it’s a long time, Packers fans will certainly come after Roger Goodell and the NFL for putting their QB in harm’s way, especially if he misses more than a few weeks of action.
The NFL has some explaining to do.
