His Cleveland Cavaliers might be having some problems right now but Evan Mobley is still a rookie unlike many others.
As the NBA regular season continues to wind down, there is a lot of speculation about where he will end up in the race for this season’s Rookie of the Year trophy.
If things continue as they have all season, there is a very good chance that he claims the coveted award when it’s all said and done.

The latest NBA.com rookie ladder has Mobley at the top of the list, followed by Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons, Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors, Jalen Green of the Houston Rockets, and Franz Wagner of the Orlando Magic.
While it’s likely that Mobley walks away with Rookie of the Year honors, right now his team is waiting for him to return to the floor.
Mobley’s Return
Mobley last played with this team on March 28 when the Cavs went against the Magic.
During that game, he hobbled off the floor after an ankle sprain and hasn’t played since.
However, there is some speculation that he will be back soon, maybe as soon as this Friday in a game against the Brooklyn Nets.
Meanwhile, his teammate Jarrett Allen is also off the floor still but could be back before the playoffs start.
That’s good news for the Cavs because without those two the team has gone 1-3.
Cleveland is having one of its best seasons in years, even with the latest setbacks that have caused them to drop down in the standings.
Mobley’s impact on his team can not be overstated.
He’s the star they’ve been waiting for.
