After a brilliant 2022 campaign in which the team saw Jalen Hurts emerge as a superstar quarterback and the team unexpectedly make it to the Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles were able to be one of the big winners in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Despite making it to the Super Bowl last season, the Eagles had a high pick and were determined to use it to improve defensively.
The team was able to do just that as with some maneuvering, Philadelphia added arguably the most talented player in the draft to their roster in the form of defensive tackle Jalen Carter out of the University of Georgia.
Although there were some concerns among interested teams in Carter’s conditioning from what was seen on his Pro Day, the Eagles have zero concern in that area, according to head coach Nick Sirianni via Around The NFL.

If Sirianni is happy with what he’s seen from Carter thus far, the Eagles are heading in the right direction and may have brought a huge piece to the defensive puzzle in Philadelphia.
Along with Carter, the Eagles were also able to select another former Bulldogs star in the first round in outside linebacker Nolan Smith, which could also prove to be a massive boost to the defense for many years to come.
It’ll be interesting to see how all these pieces come together for the Eagles next season and beyond and whether this team can continue to take advantage of a weak conference and be the team to beat in the NFC moving forward.
