Dwight Howard’s NBA legacy is a complicated one.
He was the undisputed best center in the league when he was in his prime, yet people don’t seem to talk about him much nowadays.
He didn’t leave his teams on the best terms and made some enemies along the way, and when he finally looked more mature and less self-centered, it was already too late for him.
That’s why he took to social media to remind Orlando Magic fans of the great times they spent together, reminiscing of his early days in the league and stating that he would love to retire with them (via The Sixth Man Show).

Howard admitted that going back to Orlando got him emotional, and he thanked the fans and praised the beautiful city after all they went through.
His tenure in Orlando is one of the most overlooked and underrated in recent NBA history, and people seem to forget that he single-handedly led that team to the NBA Finals, not to mention the fact that he prevented us from watching Kobe Bryant vs. LeBron James in the NBA Finals.
Maybe he didn’t fulfill his destiny as the second coming of Shaquille O’Neal, and he didn’t win a ring until he became a role player in the latter stages of his career.
But regardless of everything that went down with him throughout the course of his career, Howard still did more than enough to have his jersey retired by the Magic and be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
