Shortly following his loss in the Western Conference Finals, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers raised plenty of eyebrows when he said he didn’t know what his future in the NBA looked like.
Then a report came out stating that James was contemplating hanging it up and retiring in the summer.
It’s not clear what James is going to do but even the possibility of him retiring has a lot of people talking.
Dwight Howard, who won a championship with James just a few years ago, spoke about James and his impact on the game.
“Everything has to come to an end one day, and just to see LeBron even think about it is just crazy,” Howard said on FanDuel TV.
“He’s had an amazing career, he’s done things that no basketball player has ever done in the history of the game,” he added.

Despite the rumors, it seems likely that James will in fact be back with the Lakers when next season begins.
There is a lot of speculation that his hinting at retirement was just a way to pressure LA’s front office into making adjustments to the team to better position them for 2023-23.
But there is no denying that James is reaching the end of his career.
He has now been playing for 20 years and is 38 years old.
Additionally, injuries are catching up with him and he isn’t able to consistently play with the same power and drive he used to have.
Whenever James does retire, it’ll be a massive moment for the league.
We don’t know when it is coming but James retiring will be a historic event garnering the attention of every NBA fan all over the world.
