A lot of NBA fans are sick and tired of watching footage of Ben Simmons dominating in the summer, hitting the gym, and even knocking down shots from all three levels.
Some people can’t even explain why he stopped taking three-pointers and jump shots, as he used to take them from time to time when he was at LSU.
Moreover, Simmons’ offensive struggles have been so head-scratching that it came to a point where he even stopped driving to the lane so he wouldn’t get fouled and have to shoot free-throws, even refusing to take wide-open layups.
According to Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, it all has to do with some lost confidence.
In a recent appearance on Paul George’s Podcast P, the four-time NBA champion stated that Simmons is still the very same player we all saw dominate with the Philadelphia 76ers; the only difference is that he’s lost all confidence in his shot.

Green admitted that the same thing happened to him when he got labeled as a non-shooter and rival defenses started leaving him wide open, although he did take some steps to regain that confidence.
Simmons has admitted to dealing with some mental health stuff multiple times in the past, so this isn’t a far-fetched take on what’s going on with his offensive game.
He’s still young and has all the physical tools to be a dominant player in the league, and it’s not like his shooting form is off — he just needs to shoot with his other hand.
But more importantly: He has to shoot.
