The New England Patriots got off to a strong start vs. the Buffalo Bills.
Their defense did a solid job of containing Josh Allen, and Drake Maye was slicing and dicing through their defense.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t keep that pace up.
The Bills got it together after falling behind 14-0, eventually escaping with yet another win.
Maye made some rookie mistakes, and the team’s clock management and playcalling were questionable again.
Despite all the miscues, Maye likes what he’s seeing right now.
Following the loss, the former first-round pick claimed he was proud to be a Patriot and added that they’re building something special there.

Maye has shown glimpses of great play in his first year in the league.
Of course, he’s also made some mistakes, but that’s to be expected.
You want to see development and improvement from a rookie quarterback, which has been the case with him.
As for the rest of the team, they might have to evaluate some things in the offseason.
They need talent on both sides of the field, and some believe Jerod Mayo isn’t the right guy for the job.
Conflicting reports about Mayo’s job security have surfaced; some suggest he could be coaching for his job in the final few weeks of the regular season.
