The New England Patriots took a big swing in the 2024 NFL Draft, hoping to find their quarterback of the future.
They selected Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick, a controversial decision to some.
Maye was a great player in college, but fans and analysts wondered how his game would translate to the NFL.
He didn’t start for the Patriots right away, given that the team wanted him to sit for a bit and learn from some veterans, but his time on the bench didn’t last long.
Despite the team’s subpar record, Maye put together several impressive performances, giving some fans hope that will be a strong asset for the organization moving forward.
Maye is seemingly already excited for the 2025 season, posting some photos captioned by the phrase “Onward and upward” on Instagram, as Savage Sports highlighted on X.

The Patriots are looking to significantly change things up in 2025 and beyond, starting with a new head coach after the Jerod Mayo experiment didn’t pan out as they intended.
A new coach could be great news for Maye’s development, hopefully helping him grow into an even more impressive quarterback.
Playing QB for the Patriots is going to be a tough task for a long time, as players will draw comparisons to Tom Brady, no matter how well they perform.
Maye might not have the ceiling of Brady, but that’s unrealistic for any quarterback.
If he can, at least, bring this team back to relevancy in the next few years, that will be a win, both for him and the organization.
