The 2024 NFL Draft is just around the corner, and that only means one thing.
Some scouts and analysts will overhype some players, and others will fly under the radar.
This time, J.J. McCarthy has been the most talked-about prospect over the past couple of weeks.
He went from being doubted as a first-round-caliber talent to potentially sneaking into the top five.
With that in mind, NFL Draft and college football expert Joel Klatt gushed about him and his growth.
Talking to Colin Cowherd on The Herd, he stated that McCarthy has taken huge strides in his development, adding that he can do the things that NFL decision-makers love and need.
“I’ve seen basically every snap he’s taken. He’s grown a lot,” Klatt said.

He believes that even though he wasn’t asked to stand in the pocket and make plays more than four to six times per game, as opposed to other prospects, such as Michael Penix Jr., he proved that he could get the job done over and over.
Klatt raved about McCarthy’s ability to rise to the occasion, adding that he was always crucial on third down when his team needed him to make a play.
Perhaps his apparent lack of production was due to scheming and what he was asked to do and not due to a lack of talent.
With the draft almost one month away from today, McCarthy seems to be the quickest riser on most draft boards.
Now, whether a team will take a big risk and gamble on him with a top-ten selection remains to be seen at this point.
