Now that the 2023 NFL season is officially in the rearview mirror for every team in the league, the Chicago Bears have the tall task of trying to figure out what to do with the No. 1 overall pick, even though the team is in a great position no matter what they choose to do on April 25.
Last year, the Bears had the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft but chose to trade the pick to the Carolina Panthers, who went with quarterback Bryce Young to be their franchise player moving forward.
The Bears missed the opportunity to bring in C.J. Stroud, who went on to lead the Houston Texans to the NFL playoffs and got a win over the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the postseason.
This year, Chicago is in an ideal position to bring in a franchise quarterback with USC star Caleb Williams, who is expected to be a superstar on the NFL level, with all the skills needed to be successful as a professional.
However, the team hasn’t made a decision yet as they would need to trade quarterback Justin Fields, which they decided against last season but seem more inclined to do so this year.
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network believes the Bears will ultimately take Williams at No. 1 as he describes the Trojans star as having “unlimited upside,” which is obviously what a team wants to hear about an incoming rookie, via NFL Total Access.

Over the next couple of weeks, it’ll be interesting to see what the Bears do in order to address the quarterback situation, as the team will need to make a decision on Fields.
All signs point to Chicago trading Fields for assets and bringing in Williams to be the new face of the franchise moving forward.
