That might look like a common gesture, but given the context and all the speculation about McDaniel’s future, it speaks volumes about how he feels about his head coach.
McDaniel has turned the Dolphins’ offense around.
Nevertheless, he’s struggled mightily against winning teams in the three years he’s been there, and they have yet to win a playoff game with him at the helm.
Injuries to Tua Tagovailoa have also had a lot to do with that, so we cannot pin it all on the head coach.
Still, this is a results-oriented business, and style points don’t win Super Bowls.
The Dolphins seem to be on the verge of being a Super Bowl contender.
Those teams don’t usually fire their head coaches, and it seems like they won’t go that route in the offseason.
