At the moment, the Los Angeles Dodgers have several rivalries.
There is a booming one with the San Diego Padres given the up-and-coming status of the latter.
They also love to face, and win, against the New York Yankees and the rest of their division rivals.
However, there is no better rivalry, in the minds of Dodgers fans, than the one against the San Francisco Giants.
Analysts agree with that statement.
“The difference between the Dodgers-Giants rivalry and the Dodgers-Padres rivalry is that as soon as the Padres aren’t contenders, the rivalry will lose most of its steam. Whereas the Dodgers-Giants could be the two worst teams in baseball, and it will always mean something,” Doug McKain tweeted.

The Padres-Dodgers matchup lacks an ingredient that the Dodgers-Giants rivalry definitely has: historical relevance.
Dodgers-Giants has been a thing since both franchises were in the New York area.
The Giants played their games at the Polo Grounds, in Manhattan, for decades, and the Dodgers were from Brooklyn.
They fought every year for the right to be called champions.
Then, in the late fifties, they both moved to the West Coast.
The Giants went to San Francisco and the Dodgers went to Los Angeles.
The rivalry, far from being forgotten, became even more passionate.
They are both among the most historically relevant franchises in baseball, and have two excellent, dedicated fanbases.
The Giants-Dodgers rivalry is right up there with the Yankees-Red Sox one.
