Doc Rivers’ voice was very hoarse the other night, and it may not have been because of how intensely he was coaching his Milwaukee Bucks.
According to Rivers, via Courtside Buzz, he has been having vocal cord issues again and is due for a checkup with his doctor.
A video shared online featured Rivers speaking about his health situation, saying:
“I had surgery when I was with the Celtics. They found a polyp and they had to do surgery on my vocal cord, which is for a coach very dangerous, because one bad move … you have no voice. Our players would love that.”
Doc Rivers says he’s been having vocal chord issues again & is due for a checkup:
“My throat guy called me & said, ‘it’s time for an evaluation.’

Rivers had a biopsy to determine if he had cancerous lesions in his throat years ago and has remained in good health ever since.
But his doctors have kept a close eye on his throat, and it sounds like it’s time for them to check and make sure everything is still alright.
Hopefully, Rivers is in fine health, and there is nothing to be worried about.
A longtime NBA staple, Rivers has always been known for his trademark voice, although most fans weren’t aware of the issues surrounding it.
Rivers has been working hard since becoming head coach of the Bucks last season.
After a rough start to the season, the Bucks have turned things around and currently hold a 13-11 record, which is good enough for the sixth seed in the East.
Some people thought that Rivers was headed for the exit after such a difficult start to the season, but it looks like his job is safe as long as the team continues to compete.
Of course, if he has to get work done on his vocal cords, Rivers will be on the sidelines for a while, but hopefully, that will not be the case.
