The New York Giants haven’t fared well this season.
Perhaps that’s a bit of an understatement.
Even so, it seems like Brian Daboll might not be looking for a job after all.
According to a report by Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the word around the league is that team owner John Mara, who had voiced his support for Daboll and GM Joe Schoen in the past, might be sticking with the duo:
“A source close to Mara said earlier this week that the owner plans on sticking to his word, but he will still sit down with both Schoen and Daboll after the season to figure out what went wrong in 2024,” Russini said.
Daboll arrived in the Big Apple with high expectations, and it seemed like the team was heading in the right direction.
Then, Daniel Jones’ regression, a subpar offensive line, and some questionable decision-making derailed all the promising things they had built.
Others believe this is all on Schoen.
He was the one who repeatedly low-balled Saquon Barkley and continued to double down on a quarterback who had rarely shown that he could be a franchise-caliber player.
A lot has gone south with the Giants over the past couple of years, and it seems like the players have been going through the motions for quite a while now.
