The Arizona Diamondbacks are coming off one of the best years in their franchise history.
They shockingly made the World Series despite being the final Wild Card team in the National League.
Now the Diamondbacks are hoping for another run at the title this year.
But, their path to the division title has gotten much tougher.
That is because reigning AL MVP Shohei Ohtani has signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He substantially improves the Dodgers’ chances at winning, but Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick does not seem worried.
According to Talkin’ Baseball, Kendrick said: “He’s a great player. Is he the second coming? I would suggest not.”
“Last I looked, he’s one of nine. And the last I also looked, he’s a designated hitter. He’s a great player. Is he the second coming? I would suggest not.” -Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick on Shohei Ohtani pic.twitter.com/Yl7tfqPIM7

Kendrick said he is excited that his team gets to compete against Ohtani.
It will be a good litmus test for them to see how they stack up against one of the best in the game.
Since Ohtani cannot pitch next season, he will be a designated hitter all year.
But, he can still have a significant impact in that role.
He is coming off a season where he hit 44 home runs and drove in 95.
Adding Ohtani to the already-loaded Dodgers lineup should only increase his production.
It is safe to say Ohtani is in for a career year in the RBI category.
He should have plenty of chances to bat with runners on base.
On paper, the Dodgers roster is much better than the Diamondbacks.
Luckily for Arizona, the game is played on the field.
Last season, no one thought the Diamondbacks could compete in a World Series.
It appears that they will be playing with a similar chip on their shoulder this year.
