At this point, no one really knows what’s going on with Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors.
There is a good chance he signs a multi-year deal with the team, but there is also the possibility of him heading to another destination.
If he does leave Golden State, the Sacramento Kings might be his best hope for a new team.
However, Sam Amick is reporting that the Warriors are hesitant to send him to Sacramento due to a fear of him developing and becoming a big star.
“There is a sense from some people involved that there’s a real reluctance not only to finally ‘quit him,’ if you will, but also to see him go up the road to another Northern California NBA team. It’s run by a guy in Vivek Ranadivé, who used to be with the Warriors. And what if Kuminga blows up and becomes a total star? From a personal ownership dynamic level, there are some folks that feel like that could be playing a small part. Again, that’s not really relevant, because these other things are the real obstacles. But I mean, Joe—like a lot of owners—is very involved, too,” per Sam Amick.
The Warriors may be a little reluctant to trade Jonathan Kuminga to Sacramento, partly because they fear he could become a star there, per @sam_amick

This isn’t the only reason for Golden State’s resistance to moving Kuminga, but it’s an important one.
Kuminga believes in his skills and what he can do.
He wants to be an All-Star and hopes to perform for a team that will give him more minutes and more responsibilities.
The Warriors might not be sold on Kuminga, but they fear that he is as good as he says and will show that only after moving to Sacramento.
The idea of him performing at an All-Star level only hundreds of miles away is a scary thought for Golden State.
As it has been all summer, the situation with Kuminga and the Warriors is changing and developing by the day, and it’s not clear when it’ll find a resolution.
