Golden State Warriors fans saw a slightly different starting five on Friday night as Draymond Green was moved to the bench in the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
What caused this decision from head coach Steve Kerr, and will it continue?
According to Anthony Slater, via Legion Hoops, Kerr is planning to put Green on the bench as a way to “maximize” Jonathan Kuminga’s output.

During Friday’s game, Kuminga was part of the starting five for just the seventh time this season.
He scored 13 points, two rebounds, and 1 assist during his 29 minutes on the court.
As for Green, he scored 10 points, nine rebounds, and six assists during his 26 minutes in the game.
Kerr is attempting to get the most out of Kuminga, which makes sense because he was one of the breakout stars of the league last season.
Although his numbers have slid down a bit this season, Kuminga is still a valuable asset to the team, even as questions about his future continue to swirl.
Some people feel the Warriors will part ways with Kuminga in the future, using him as a trade asset in order to land another All-Star player to match with Curry.
However, maybe the front office decides to stick with Kuminga, especially if he plays well and keeps earning a spot in the starting lineup.
As for Green, he has made it clear that he will do whatever Kerr wants, whether that be a starter or a second-unit star.
He is eager to help his team win in any way possible, and this move to the bench is an example of that.
