As of now, there hasn’t been that much interest in Russell Wilson following the announcement of his impending release from the Denver Broncos.
However, despite some reports stating that the Pittsburgh Steelers were ready to commit to Kenny Pickett for another season, they reached out to the former Super Bowl champion.
Now, a report by Josina Anderson of CBS Sports revealed that things went quite well for Wilson, adding that he talked to new Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith for hours and that he looked happy.
Heard Russell Wilson had a great meeting in Pittsburgh so far. I was told he sat with #Steelers OC Arthur Smith ‘for hours’ and that ‘he looked happy.’ I was also told Wilson ‘did his homework’ reaching out to some players in advance, per source.

Anderson adds that Wilson also reached out to multiple players ahead of this meeting.
Truth be told, it’s hard to think of a team that would make more sense for Wilson than the Steelers.
They have an elite defense and one of the best head coaches in the National Football League.
Their offensive line will give him time to work, and they have a solid running game to rely on.
On top of that, he’s a perfect fit for their cap space, as they could get him on a cheap contract because of the money he’s going to get from the Denver Broncos anyway.
Wilson should be far from done in this league, and the Steelers have been able to stay competitive despite their subpar quarterback situation.
Perhaps Pickett needs a veteran mentor or an actual competition to become the player the Steelers think and hope he can become.
