Details Emerge About Nik Bonitto’s Contract Demands

The Denver Broncos have one of the best pass rushers in the game.

And after watching him dominate in Sean Payton‘s second season with the team, they would be wise to keep him around for a little longer.

According to a report by Zack Kelberman of the Mile High Huddle, Nik Bonitto is currently looking to make north of $20 million a year in his next contract.

All things considered, that could be a bit of a bargain for this team.

Broncos general manager George Paton told the media he hoped to give the star edge rusher a contract extension soon, but he also admitted that they hadn’t been in talks about that yet.

That has reportedly changed, and the Broncos kicked the tires on a potential extension.

Bonitto showed glimpses of strong play as a rookie, but the production didn’t always match the tape.

He had just 1.5 sacks as a rookie before logging eight in his second season.

Then, he had 13.5 sacks and helped the Broncos get a playoff berth.

The Broncos took Bonitto in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and he earned a second-team All-Pro selection in just his third season in the league.

Needless to say, the team could also take a different approach here, as they don’t necessarily have to sign him right away.

Then again, if he bets on himself and dominates in year four, waiting instead of giving him a new deal now could be a costly wager for the Denver Broncos.
