The New York Jets needed another pass-catcher, and they got one of the best available.
With the Los Angeles Chargers releasing Mike Williams, it didn’t take long before they reached out to the former Clemson star.
Williams reportedly had visits scheduled with multiple teams, but he didn’t need a lot of time to realize that he wanted to be in New York, and they made sure he didn’t leave the building without a contract.
Now, details have emerged about this deal, with Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reporting that it was a one-year pact.
The deal includes a $3.3 million signing bonus with $8.3 million fully guaranteed and $5 million in incentives.
Jets WR Mike Williams got a one-year, $10 million deal.
• $3.3 million signing bonus.
• $8.3 million fully guaranteed.
• $5 million in incentives. So lots of prove-it elements as Williams works his way back from the torn ACL he suffered in late September.

This makes sense, considering he’s coming off a major injury.
He started all three games and hauled in 19 grabs for 249 yards and a touchdown before tearing his ACL early last season.
Now, he’s expected to be back to full strength by the start of the upcoming campaign.
He spent his entire seven-year career with the Chargers, surpassing 1,000 receiving yards twice and leading the league in yards per catch once.
Williams has always had a reputation for being a massive deep-pass threat.
That bodes perfectly well for a guy like Aaron Rodgers, who has made a living out of burning defenders with his speedsters, especially in broken or ‘free’ plays when a flag is thrown.
