Micah Parsons is seemingly fed up with the Dallas Cowboys.
With contract negotiations stalled in a messy dispute, the star edge rusher has requested a trade.
Details have emerged about the negotiations and what might have led Parsons to this point.
Though the sides were talking early in the offseason, the intent of that communication was not clear.
“Among the key issues: Micah Parsons spoke directly with Jerry Jones over multiple days in the spring. The team believed those conversations were negotiations and that it had a deal, multiple league sources said. But Parsons believed the talks were just conversations and wanted his agent to handle the negotiations. When his agent attempted to start negotiations, the Cowboys declined to engage with him and told the pass rusher that they believed they already had a deal. Now, the team is refusing to engage with Parsons’ agent at all, creating a tense standoff amid increasing friction,” Dianna Russini of The Athletic wrote on X.

It’s odd that the Cowboys believed they had a deal in place without speaking to Parsons’ agent, as nothing is official until pen is put to paper.
If true, this may be tough for the Cowboys to overcome.
These standoffs usually end with the team and the player coming to a mutual understanding and finding common ground, but there’s not much that can be done if the Cowboys are refusing to speak with Parsons’ official representation.
The situation got very messy very quickly, as Parsons shared a long post on X thanking Dallas and explaining why he simply doesn’t want to play for the Cowboys anymore.
That is a lot deeper than simply pushing for a new contract.
This doesn’t sound like it’s going to end well, but things change quickly in the NFL.
