The Tennessee Titans were relieved to have Derrick Henry back when they faced the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2021 AFC Divisional Round.
However, the 2020 Offensive Player of the Year underperformed after missing nine regular-season games due to a Jones fracture.
While the former Alabama standout had a touchdown, he only had 62 rushing yards which is way below his capabilities.
The long layoff could be an excuse for his poor showing, but Henry isn’t that kind of athlete.
Instead, he used that setback as motivation to improve himself, as A to Z Sports’ beat writer for the Titans Buck Reising shared.

Reising tweeted a photo of Henry devoting himself to offseason workouts.
While he has recovered from his foot injury, he’s still getting back into game shape.
The rest of the league should be scared by this picture because Henry is out to dominate again.
Even if he played only eight games last season, he still finished with 937 yards and ten touchdowns.
That number amounts to 117.1 yards per game despite the defense knowing that he will get the ball.
Titans fans are again pumped up after seeing their star player starting his offseason workout.
Titans Hope To Do Better Next Season
As Henry works to put himself back in shape, the team hopes he won’t suffer another season-ending injury.
Yes, the Titans found ways to continuously win without him last season, ending with the AFC’s best record.
But their fate would have been better with a well-conditioned Henry in their backfield.
Tennessee hopes to lighten up Henry’s load by adding wide receiver Robert Woods.
It’s also possible that the Titans will get another wideout in the 2022 draft.
But even if they elevate their passing game, a healthy Henry gives them the best winning odds.
