The Sacramento Kings find themselves at a crossroads.
They boast impressive talent led by De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, and the roster was further bolstered by the addition of DeMar DeRozan.
Complemented by role players Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk and Keegan Murray, the Kings seem set up for success.
Fox recently opened up about his decision to delay contract extension talks, saying that his commitment comes with a clear condition: The Kings must continue pushing toward genuine championship contention.
“For me, it has all to do with the team, the organization, where are we going?” Fox said, via “The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis.” “I want to make sure that we’re in a position to try to win in the future because that’s ultimately what I want to do.”
“I would love to be here and retire here. … But at the end of the day, I want to win.”

Recent reports reveal that Fox turned down a three-year, $165 million max extension in pursuit of a more rewarding deal.
It’s a bold move for the player, who has essentially become Sacramento basketball’s heartbeat.
Since being selected No. 5 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, Fox has transformed the Kings’ trajectory, ending a 16-year playoff drought and establishing them as Western Conference contenders.
The five-year, $163 million extension he signed in 2020 wasn’t just a contract, it was a statement of belief in the organization’s potential.
Now, the 26-year-old wants to ensure the Kings continue their upward momentum, making it clear his future depends on their commitment to championship aspirations.
