After flaming out in the Wild Card Round against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Philadelphia Eagles must do some soul-searching to return to the top.
Philadelphia got off to a 10-1 start during the 2023 NFL season, but blowout losses to the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys seemed to break the team.
The Eagles were a near-lock to win the NFC’s No. 1 seed, but they fell to the third after losing five of their final six games.
The defense was a disaster during the second half of the year, though the blame shouldn’t fall solely on players like Darius Slay.
Slay, who is still considered one of the premier cornerbacks in the league, did his best to prop up the secondary but the unit wasn’t the same as the lockdown group from last year.
The veteran defensive back should be a key part of the defense in 2024, but in the meantime, he put out a call looking for a spring time coaching opportunity via his personal Twitter account.
“Trying to be volunteer assistant DB coach at a high school or college for spring football in Houston tx.. talk to me!!!!” he tweeted.

Slay would be able to participate as a coach somewhere in the spring as it doesn’t necessarily conflict with his offseason schedule.
Teams will have voluntary training sessions sometime in the spring, though that shouldn’t prevent Slay from participating,
It would be fun for fans to see someone like Slay on the sidelines, but the Eagles are hoping he returns to form on the field next season.
