Given the current state of the NFL, $40 million a year for a quarterback isn’t that much money anymore.
Even so, it’s almost impossible not to think about the fact that the New York Giants chose Daniel Jones over Saquon Barkley every time we watch both of them play.
That was even more evident on Sunday, as Barkley was on the other sideline while Jones couldn’t even finish the game.
Brian Daboll said, “Enough is enough,” and pulled the plug on Jones, turning to Drew Lock in the fourth quarter of a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
When asked about that, Jones claimed that the Giants were Daboll’s team and it was up to him to make those decisions (via Charlotte Carroll).
So, he stated that he was just going to keep believing in the offense and focusing on himself.

Jones completed 14 of 21 passes for 99 yards and was sacked seven times before being benched.
Daboll claimed that he wanted to “Create a spark,” which is why he decided to bench Jones late in the contest, but he will remain the starter for the time being.
Before the start of the season, most people talked about how this would be Jones’ last opportunity to prove that he was a starting-caliber quarterback in the league.
The Giants considered moving on from him in the offseason, and there have been times when it seemed like Daboll isn’t that high on him.
Judging by the way things have fared thus far, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see the team parting ways with him in the offseason.
