The NFC North might have a new ruler in the Detroit Lions who moved to 5-1 after beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6.
For years, the Green Bay Packers have resided over the division, but the Lions are making a case for themselves to be the next team to take over.
Detroit had high hopes coming into the season after their success last year.
The defense is much improved after the Lions drafted several impact players and key free agents to shore up the talent up front and in the secondary.
On the other side, the offense continues to hum and is scoring at efficient rates on a weekly basis.
Jared Goff is having arguably his best season to date and Dan Patrick believes that the quarterback should be in the MVP discussion via The Dan Patrick Show.

We're not thinking about @JaredGoff16 has an MVP candidate but we definitely should be, especially with how he's playing for the 5-1 #OnePride:#NFL pic.twitter.com/sEirPqzpnD

Goff has definitely earned more praise and recognition through six weeks as he’s been one of the best signal-callers from an efficiency standpoint.
The former number-one overall pick has shown that he can thrive in the right system and looks like a much more confident and poised player out on the field.
It’ll be hard for Goff to overcome the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen for the award but his name certainly warrants some consideration.
However, if the Lions continue to win games then Goff should become a more serious candidate.
