The Minnesota Vikings were on a roll before disaster struck and Kirk Cousins was lost for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season after he tore his Achilles.
The Vikings’ chances to win the NFC North are all but gone, but they’re still in the mix for a wild card spot especially after they managed to land Joshua Dobbs in a deadline trade.
Dobbs was forced into action much earlier than anticipated after rookie Jaren Hall suffered a concussion in Week 9 and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
However, Dobbs somehow found a way to lead Minnesota to a comeback win and is slated to start in Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints.
While Dobbs has proven he is a starting-caliber quarterback, the Vikings are going to need to figure out their long-term answer at quarterback.
Dan Orlovsky has been watching this year’s quarterback draft class and had a suggestion for Minnesota via his personal Twitter account.
JJ McCarthy would be great with the Vikings

The 2024 NFL Draft seems to be coming down to either USC’s Caleb Williams or UNC’s Drake Maye as the first overall pick, though J.J. McCarthy is picking up some steam as of late.
Although not as talented as Williams or Maye, McCarthy’s a great prospect in his own right as he’s a great athlete who has learned to be more poised in the pocket and make better decisions throwing the football.
Cousins is in the last year of his deal and probably won’t be ready to go to start the 2024 NFL season, so the Vikings could opt to part ways with the veteran and start fresh with a quarterback like McCarthy.
