The Atlanta Falcons don’t look good on offense right now.
Even though they finally snapped a four-game losing streak, the game should’ve never been that close.
Once again, it has a lot to do with Kirk Cousins and his struggles.
The former Minnesota Vikings quarterback has regressed from his solid start to the season, and he’s been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league over the past month or so.
However, as much as an evident lack of confidence has had plenty to do with that, Dan Orlovsky believes his offensive coordinator isn’t doing him any favors.
Talking on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the former quarterback pointed out that the Falcons have completely gone away from Cousins’ biggest strength.
"His whole career has been play action pass and he's always excelled at that..
This year they're not running any play action"@danorlovsky7 #PMSLive https://t.co/X6QeysKfcv pic.twitter.com/sXxY2G4FHQ

He argued that he’s always been an excellent play-action passer, and the Falcons are currently last in such plays.
That has forced him to retreat more often, and he has less experience in those situations.
He believes the Falcons are trying to do what’s best for their skill players and offensive line, but they’ve neglected their quarterback.
That makes sense, and you can tell Cousins doesn’t feel comfortable right now.
That’s a cycle, and it’s hard to play freely when you’re constantly trying not to mess up.
Cousins isn’t getting any younger, and if the Falcons don’t want to use him to the best of his strengths, they might choose to turn to Michael Penix Jr. sooner rather than later.
