The Damian Lillard trade saga finally reached a conclusion following the seven-time NBA All-Star getting traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.
While Lillard wanted to become a member of the Miami Heat, he did not mind joining the Bucks.
After all, pairing with Giannis Antetokounmpo also allows him to chase his goal of winning the NBA title.
But before the Bucks trade was announced, Lillard was apparently pranked with fake trade news to the Toronto Raptors.
In an interview with Chris Haynes via Twitter, Lillard revealed that Raptors forward OG Anunoby pranked him by texting: “Welcome to Toronto.”
“It just caught me off guard, like I know it didn’t happen like that,” Lillard said.

A couple of years ago, the news may have been a pleasant surprise for Lillard as the Raptors had a championship-caliber roster.
But heading into the 2023-24 season, the Raptors are a borderline playoff team.
If the Trail Blazers had traded Dame to the Raptors, there would have been some bad blood between the two parties.
As Dame is 33 years old and is trying to use the final years of his prime to become an NBA champion.
Lillard did clarify that Anunoby routinely pulls such pranks on him.
Moreover, he mentioned that the two players worked out together this summer, so they certainly have a friendship.
Fortunately for Dame, Anunoby’s cruel joke didn’t turn into reality, as the former Trail Blazers superstar has already appeared at the Bucks’ Media Day.
Will getting traded to the Bucks finally end Lillard’s NBA championship drought?
Only time will tell, but the Bucks do have a good enough roster to realistically win it all next season.
