With superstar guard Damian Lillard officially requesting that the Portland Trail Blazers trade him before next season, the drama continues in the Pacific Northwest, with no telling where the perennial All-Star will land once the dust settles.
In fact, in a surprising turn of events, Blazers fans have started to turn on Lillard now that he’s told the team to trade him after years of being loyal to the franchise that drafted him back in 2012.
Despite the trade request, the consensus was that Blazers fans would wish him well and turn to rookie Scoot Henderson to be the new face of the franchise, but Lillard is getting some heat for his decision to leave Portland.
On Sunday, Lillard took to Twitter urging fans to tell him what they think about how things have panned out in Portland, and the team letting it be known that it will do what is best for the franchise rather than trade the superstar to where he’d prefer to go.

With Lillard being loyal to the team and adamant about staying in Portland until they can win it all since 2012, it doesn’t say much for the team not to help him go where he wants to go in a way to repay him for making the franchise relevant for the past decade.
However, it does boil down to the fact that this is a business, and a team doing what’s best for the franchise is good business.
With things getting a bit ugly, it will be interesting to see how things turn out in this trade fiasco and where Lillard ultimately lands.
