The Portland Trail Blazers have failed to put enough talent around Damian Lillard over the years.
Lillard has had to do a lot of heavy lifting and put the team on his shoulders year in and year out, but to no avail.
So, now that he’s finally considering a trade away from the team, he took a look at some of his most realistic options and chose the Miami Heat as his preferred destination.

Lillard chose the Heat over the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, and several other teams, and he didn’t even hesitate that Miami would be his “obvious” choice, adding that he’s close friends with Bam Adebayo.
Dame later thought things through and added the Brooklyn Nets as another potential destination because of his close relationship with Mikal Bridges.
Of course, this is all hypothetical and wishful thinking, as there’s no indication whatsoever that Lillard will, in fact, be traded.
Nonetheless, this is the first time in his career that he’s looked at this as a realistic possibility, and he’s obviously putting a lot of pressure on the Blazers organization to make a decision.
They can either look to run it back with Lillard at the helm by trading that No. 3 pick and some young players for win-now pieces, or they can blow it up and hit the drawing board again, letting Lillard play for a contender.
There’s no doubt that Lillard deserves to play for an NBA championship while he’s still at the peak of his game.
