The Milwaukee Bucks just got a lot better, at least offensively.
Damian Lillard is a perfect complement for Giannis Antetokounmpo, as they pretty much make up for each other’s few flaws.
Giannis’ athleticism and combination of raw strength and power are deadly on their own, and Lillard’s limitless and rangeless perimeter shooting can also be a dangerous weapon.
That’s why Lillard is so excited about this new pairing, talking about how defenses will now have to pick their poison by either clogging the paint to prevent Giannis from scoring and leaving Lillard wide open in the perimeter or play man-to-man defense and allow both to find a mismatch or make the most of their strengths (via Milwaukee Bucks and Bleacher Report).
“They’re not gonna allow [Giannis] to come downhill and just dunk every time … Are you gonna clog up the paint or are you gonna allow me to make nine threes?”
Dame and Giannis are gonna be a problem this season 🔥

On top of that, Lillard is a much better creator than Jrue Holiday.
Holiday often struggled when asked to be the primary playmaker, either turning the ball over with a subpar pass or getting exposed for his average handles.
Jrue Holiday is obviously three or even four times a better defender than Lillard, who’s never been known for that aspect of his game.
But the Bucks already have enough solid defenders to make up for that and ‘hide’ him on that end of the floor, while now getting an elite shot-maker, not to mention one of the masters of the clutch since he entered the league.
Lillard and the Bucks are going to be quite dangerous for years to come, and the start of the season can’t come soon enough.
