Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks are one of the most impressive duos in the entire NBA.
When Lillard came to Milwaukee in the summer, it sent shockwaves throughout the rest of the league.
The move came as a surprise to many but new comments from Lillard prove that it was really a long time coming.
Speaking on the “Knuckleheads” show, via The Players’ Tribune, Lillard revealed that prior to the Bucks winning the Finals a few years ago, he had been trying to get Antetokounmpo to join him on the Portland Trail Blazers.
Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo was attempting to convince Lillard that he should be the one making the move from Portland to Milwaukee.

Apparently, both Lillard and Antetokounmpo were using Pat Connaughton, who used to play for the Trail Blazers but then moved to the Bucks, as a middleman.
Eventually, of course, Antetokounmpo would get his way and Lillard packed his bags and headed to Milwaukee.
When he did, the two stars had an hour-long chat about what their plans and goals were and how they could reach them.
The new-look Bucks have gotten to work in 2023-24.
They have a record of 9-4, which is quite impressive, but it’s their latest wins that have gained the most attention.
They have now won four games in a row, including Saturday night’s battle against the very competitive Dallas Mavericks.
They next face the Washington Wizards on Monday night and hope to bring their winning streak to five.
During Saturday’s game, Antetokounmpo scored 40 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lillard lit it up with 27 points and 12 assists.
It’s taken them years to come together and play for the same team but now they are making up for lost time.
