The market for NFL running backs has been terrible this offseason, and it doesn’t look like that trend is going to change any time soon, if ever.
Perhaps the only running back gauging league-wide interests in today’s market is Dalvin Cook, who was released by the Minnesota Vikings a couple of weeks ago.
Multiple teams have reportedly been in touch with him, which is no surprise, considering he’s coming off four seasons rushing for at least 1,000 yards.
Notably, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the New England Patriots have joined the race to win his sweepstakes, and they want to host him for a visit after he meets with the New York Jets.
While Dalvin Cook prepares for a visit with the #Jets this week, he’s also in talks with the #Patriots about setting up a possible visit to New England, per source. Both teams have shown steady interest in the four-time Pro Bowler.

Just a couple of days ago, it all seemed like Cook was ready to sign with the Jets and serve as Breece Hall’s sidekick/backup.
But Cook is in no rush to get a deal done, and he knows he still has some leverage in this situation and could use this in his favor to squeeze a couple of extra dollars.
Cook recently admitted that he’s likely to play in the AFC East next season, granted that the Miami Dolphins tried to trade for him early in the offseason and are still interested in signing him, as well as the aforementioned Patriots and Jets.
On top of that, Niyeim Hines’ season-ending injury also makes the Buffalo Bills a realistic possibility, as he’d team up with his younger brother James.
Whatever the case, it shouldn’t be long before we see him land with a new team.
