After being surprisingly released by the Minnesota Vikings in June, it was thought that four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook would quickly sign with another team, with his hometown Miami Dolphins seeming to be the obvious choice.
Despite all the buzz about Miami, a deal never came to fruition, leaving the star running back’s NFL future hanging in the balance with no telling where he’d land.
Then the New York Jets showed interest in the veteran back and brought him in for a visit, with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers taking a pay cut with the team that seemed to signal the inevitable signing of Cook.
However, Cook didn’t sign immediately as he left New York without a deal and an uncertain future once again.
On Monday, that all changed, as Cook intends to sign a one-year deal with the Jets, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Although Miami was an intriguing fit for Cook as he’d join one of the best offenses in the league led by Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle, the Jets always seemed to be the better choice, as he immediately makes them a superteam in the AFC.
As if the addition of Rodgers wasn’t enough of an improvement, the Jets will now have one of the best running games in the league, with Cook and Breece Hall leading the way out of the backfield in New York.
Along with the run game, the passing game is elite, with Garrett Wilson being Rodgers’ primary target, along with Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, Mecole Hardman, and tight end Tyler Conklin.
The Jets went from being a potential contender to being a legitimate contender in the AFC.
