Dak Prescott caused quite the stir Sunday and not just because of the way the Dallas Cowboys lost against the San Francisco 49ers.
He was talking postgame and chastising fans for throwing things onto the field following the game, as he thought they were throwing it at the players.
Someone suggested fans were targeting the referees, which Prescott commended.
He openly said it was right for fans to throw things at referees, thus creating a controversy that was talked about nationally.
The quarterback finally came to his senses, or was forced to, and offered up an apology Tuesday night via Twitter.
I deeply regret the comments I made regarding the officials after the game on Sunday.
I was caught up in the emotion of a disappointing loss and my words were uncalled for and unfair.

“I deeply regret the comments I made regarding the officials after the game on Sunday,” Prescott wrote. “I was caught up in the emotion of a disappointing loss and my words were uncalled for and unfair.”
The issue at hand was the Cowboys seemingly not understanding that an official has to spot the ball on every play.
I hold the NFL Officials in the highest regard and have always respected their professionalism and the difficulty of their jobs.
The safety of everyone who attends a game or participates on the field of a sporting event is a very serious matter.

Prescott did not leave enough time for this to happen and the final result was the clock running out and the Cowboys losing.
Blaming the referees for that was not a good look at all.
Dak Offers His Apology
It would be a stretch to say Prescott has some vendetta against NFL referees.
As he said, it was a heated moment and the entire Cowboys team was frustrated following the loss.
But it was still an awful look and the NFL has a strict policy about players and coaches not openly criticizing the officials.
Again, the loss was on Prescott and the Cowboys coaching staff.
They did not allow the offense enough time to run a play, get set, and spike the ball.
That is something they may want to work on a lot leading into the 2022 season.
