The Chicago Cubs are in the middle of a highly contested playoff race.
Three teams are fighting for the final two Wild Card spots in the National League.
One of those teams is the Cubs, and the other two are the Miami Marlins and Cincinnati Reds.
Every game matters to these teams as they hope to land a playoff berth.
That is why losing a series to an inferior team can be so frustrating.
The Cubs just lost two of three games to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
It was a major setback for a Cubs team that cannot afford any more series losses.
According to Jesse Rogers, Cubs manager David Ross knows what type of missed opportunity this was.
Ross said: “That’s not a good team that just took 2 of 3 from us.”
David Ross, postgame after the Cubs 8-6 loss to the Pirates: “That’s not a good team that just took 2 out of 3 from us. Or not our caliber of team I believe. We have to turn it around. Its on me. Its on the guys in the room."

You can tell by that comment that Ross is heated about this loss.
To disrespect your opponent like that is not something many managers would ever do.
Even if it is true, most managers would not say something like that out loud.
The Cubs are currently tied with the Marlins for the third and final Wild Card spot.
Both teams have eight games left on their schedule.
Not many people predicted the Cubs to be playoff contenders this year.
Yet, they have played well and that is a credit to Ross.
It will be interesting to see if these recent comments light a fire under his team.
That may be just what they need to push themselves into the postseason.
