The Dallas Cowboys have a knack for flaming out in the postseason and it happened again in the Wild Card Round as they got embarrassed by the Green Bay Packers.
The Cowboys were considered massive favorites to beat the Packers and advance, but they fell behind early and never could climb back into the game.
Dallas now heads into the offseason much earlier than expected where they have some massive decisions to make about the roster.
Interestingly enough, though, owner Jerry Jones decided to keep head coach Mike McCarthy in place despite rumors that his job was on the line.
McCarthy has been unimpressive since taking over the Cowboys sidelines but it appears he’ll get at least one more season to prove himself.
Although McCarthy keeps his job, he might not have it past next season as he will not be receiving a contract extension via Adam Schefter of ESPN.
“Mike McCarthy is not expected to receive any sort of extension from the Dallas Cowboys and will coach the 2024 season on an expiring contract, per sources,” Schefter reported.

Jones seems to be giving McCarthy one more chance, but the head coach must be feeling the pressure now that his job is no longer secure.
Dallas could’ve dipped its toes in the head coaching market given all the quality candidates available, but will now be watching how McCarthy plans to solve their playoff woes.
The offense caught a rhythm late against the Packers, but defensively the team fell apart after being a strong unit all regular season.
Fans might not be happy with the decision, though they’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
