The Dallas Cowboys recently made headlines by making a surprising head coach hiring, deciding to promote from within and select Brian Schottenheimer as the team’s next HC after he spent the last two years as the team’s offensive coordinator.
It will be Schottenheimer’s first go-around as a head coach in the NFL, and the focus now shifts to who will be joining him on his staff, with one Arizona Cardinals coach currently in the running.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo shared on X that the Cowboys are interviewing Cardinals offensive line coach Klayton Adams for their OC opening.
He noted that Adams will be interviewing in person and is the favorite to land the job after already conducting his first interview virtually.

Adams has been the Cardinals’ offensive line coach since 2023 and previously spent four years with the Indianapolis Colts as their tight ends coach and assistant offensive line coach.
Quarterback Kyler Murray was pretty well-protected in 2024.
He was sacked 30 times and kept upright enough to make 17 starts for the first time in his career despite both his tackles, Paris Johnson Jr. and Jonah Williams, spending time on injured reserve.
This would be a massive step up for Adams, who was also the co-offensive coordinator at Colorado in 2018.
With Schottenheimer transitioning from offensive coordinator to head coach, it’s likely the offense will not change drastically since it will still fall under his leadership.
Therefore, it would be wise for him to choose someone without a past as an offensive coordinator who can develop in this position.
We’ll see if this hiring gets made official in the coming days.
