On paper, the Dallas Cowboys should have one of the best offenses in the NFL with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, but that hasn’t been the case so far during the 2024 season.
After a strong start, the Cowboys are now struggling to find their way as they currently sit at 3-3 and third in the NFC East.
Their defense is struggling to stop opposing teams from scoring, and the offense just hasn’t been good enough to compensate for that.
One of the major areas where the Dallas offense is struggling is in the run game, as the running back room of Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott has been far from ideal.
Dowdle has shown flashes of being a legitimate weapon, but neither he nor Elliott has been able to handle a workhorse load.
However, the Cowboys are hoping to change their fortunes by turning to Dalvin Cook.
“The Cowboys plan to elevate RB Dalvin Cook from the practice squad for Sunday night’s game vs the [San Francisco] 49ers, per source. Former Pro Bowler set to make his Dallas debut,” Jeremy Fowler of ESPN wrote on X.

Cook split time between the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens last season, but it looks like he’ll be featured more with the Cowboys, who need some sort of boost in the run game.
At 29 years old, Cook may be past his prime but should be fresh and ready to go given he hasn’t played any snaps for Dallas this season.
