The Washington Commanders‘ search for a franchise quarterback continues.
They thought it was Taylor Heinicke but the magic that made him famous eventually fizzled.
However, what did they see in Carson Wentz that they are willing to trade three draft picks for him?
It’s not as if he was the Indianapolis Colts’ best player last season.
Instead, he limited the Colts, especially in their last two games that could have given them a playoff spot.
Perhaps head coach Ron Rivera saw something in him that 31 other NFL teams don’t.
Whatever that attribute is, Washington can only hope that their 2022 campaign will turn out for the better.
But it seems like Caesars Sportsbook could not care less about the change at quarterback for the Commanders, as this tweet by NFL on CBS reflected.

The tweet showed that Washington had +6000 betting odds to win Super Bowl LVII.
After the trade, Washington stays at +6000, meaning that getting Wentz doesn’t improve their title hopes at all.
This non-movement might dampen Wentz’s confidence if he did pay attention to what the sportsbook said.
But it’s hard to fault Caesars because Washington had other options that could move the needle for the better.
Other Options In The Quarterback Market
The Commanders couldn’t wait a few more days until the free agency and trading period for the 2022 season opened up.
By then, they could have chased other quarterbacks like Jimmy Garoppolo, Jameis Winston, Mitchell Trubisky, Teddy Bridgewater, and Gardner Minshew.
With several options to choose from, they chose the signal-caller that sprained both of his ankles in one game.
Unless Wentz suddenly turns into an All-Pro, Washington will remain a pretender in the NFC East.
That’s a shame for a team that has explosive players on offense like running back Antonio Gibson and wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
