The Washington Commanders have put Terry McLaurin on the list of receivers getting a deal in 2022.
With this new deal, McLaurin is a Commander through the 2025 season.
However, he isn’t the only winner here, as Commanders fans are lucky that their receiver stuck with the team.
With the receiver market being ripe for new contracts and trades, McLaurin’s decision to stay in Washington is lucky for them.
So what makes this decision so good for both Washington and their fans?
McLaurin Gives Carson Wentz A Useful Weapon At Receiver
While the young receiver might not be the caliber of a Davante Adams or a Tyreek Hill, he is a useful weapon for Washington.
With Carson Wentz making his move to the Commanders this season, he’ll need every weapon that the team can give him to win games.
The new starting quarterback now knows who his top guy for 2022 will be with McLaurin signing his contract extension.
There it is: Terry McLaurin tops 1,000 yards this season. The first Washington receiver to do that in consecutive seasons since Henry Ellard (1994-96). pic.twitter.com/HNT1JXPswA

With him being the first receiver in 26 years to have consecutive 1,000 yard receiving seasons, fans are lucky to have him.
However, having the young receiver is only a small piece of the puzzle for winning in Washington.
But no matter the size of that puzzle piece, it’s still one that Commanders fans are lucky to have.
McLaurin Offers Stability In Unstable Environment In Washington
Another thing that he offers to the team is stability.
While the young receiver has missed games because of concussions, he’s been a stable of the Commanders’ offense.
With a team who’s gone through quarterbacks multiple times in a season, he offers them someone the team can rely on.
However, a rotating scene of quarterbacks isn’t the only issue that Washington has.
Ownership has also left a black eye on the once great franchise.
Because of his actions, fans want Dan Snyder gone.
I'm a Washington fan but can speak for all fans here when we all want Dan Snyder gone. He ruined the franchise and we don't feel any hope going forward with him as long as he's owner

That’s why having McLaurin still around helps with a fanbase that’s felt hopeless.
Mistakes and misdeeds by Snyder have turned fans against him, and rightfully so.
However, with McLaurin staying, fans can at least be happy with having a good receiver.
He Could Have Demanded A Trade, But Stuck With Washington
Despite having a less than stellar quarterback and a franchise full of controversy, McLaurin made a choice to stay in Washington.
However, he could have easily demanded the Commanders to trade him.
While the team said they had no intentions of trading him, the Baltimore Ravens could have been a top spot for him if it happened.
But he decided Washington was the place for him, and not any other team.
This now gives Washington a young star that wants to be with the team.
It will be interesting how he works with yet another new quarterback for the franchise.
Since becoming a Commander in 2019, the team has started eight different quarterbacks with McLaurin at receiver.
The Commanders hope Wentz is the last quarterback they will need for a while.
It would also help the young receiver to have a stable quarterback to help him have a breakout season in 2022.
