At least Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay isn’t mincing his words.
If you remember, his father Robert repeatedly denied rumors that the then-Baltimore Colts would move to Indianapolis.
But one day, Mayflower trucks were seen moving equipment out of the team’s facility in Baltimore.
Those who were old enough at that time will never forget that sight and might never forgive the older Irsay for that franchise-altering move.
Fast forward to 2022 and the Colts made another monumental transaction by trading for former league MVP Matt Ryan.
Aside from getting a reliable veteran under center, the team gave up only a third-round pick to acquire the services of the longtime Atlanta Falcons captain.
Now that they are getting an upgrade on the game’s most important position, Irsay did not hold back his thoughts regarding former quarterback Carson Wentz.

According to the tweet by The Athletic, Irsay said about Wentz, “It’s just, for us, it was just it was something that we had to move away from as a franchise – it was very obvious.”
Meanwhile, he had high praise about Ryan, saying “Extremely grateful to the football gods, so to speak (regarding) where we were compared to where we are.”
You Can’t Fault Irsay For Saying The Truth
No one would argue with Irsay because Ryan was the better quarterback in every facet after last season.
Likewise, the Colts’ owner is upset that they had to give away their first-rounder in this year’s draft.
They could have used that pick to select either a wide receiver or a defensive back.
With Ryan under center, the Colts should have a better chance of clinching a playoff spot.
The team should be in the 2021 postseason as well, but Wentz faltered, especially against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18.
